Egress Analysis
Emergency evacuation planning has become a high priority for many property owners and managers in reaction to various disasters that have occurred in recent years. The attacks of 911, deadly nightclub fires and crowd crush occurrences have caused media and public safety advocate scrutiny. As a result, building owners are mandated to comply with numerous changes to local ordinances.
Decisions regarding building fire alarm systems, emergency voice communication systems and emergency lighting and power systems are driven by national and local building codes, as well as federal laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Building codes require only minimum provisions for designing means of egress. In some cases, facility owners and managers or building officials will determine that additional measures are warranted. Aon’s egress analysis and fire and life safety services will provide appropriate recommendations and solutions.
